The third and final piece of the triptych after “Slab of Duplex Flats” and “Behind the Wall”. The individual pieces on this album were written in 2022, most of them in the wake of the passing of my cat and bestfriend, Shredder. He would be 15 yrs old today. They exist, for me, as sketches or motifs and I’ve played each of them many many times, in many different arrangements. The recordings here were done in one pass with no overdubbing. They each fill me with tremendous sadness and I’m happy they can live somewhere other than inside of me.

It’s a very bittersweet day. It’s Layla’s 15th birthday and I love her dearly, but I miss Shredder. Today also marks 20 years since my Uncle took his own life. I hope this final album honors them but also helps resolve the pain, and anger, and let’s me move forward with a kind and open heart.
